Our Tender Future features youth and staff from Monarch School in Barrio Logan and is a call to action for youth and adults alike. This film encourages young people to activate their voice and explore the change they want to see before they turn 18. Our Tender Future is an invitation for adults to be in the realm of change alongside youth and to ponder the effect their actions have on young people, especially as youth show their power in dismantling old structures and calling out injustices. Can we together acknowledge the harm that has been done?
Samantha Marcial (she/they) is a 24 year old Chicana artist who’s been dancing since the age of 14 years old. Samantha has always used dance and poetry as a form of protest, utilizing her artistic tools to create change and amplify the voices of those who continue to be silenced.
Zack King is a dancer, actor, and video artist based in Escondido, CA. He received his BFA in Dance with a minor in Theater from SDSU. Zack has been a part of dance films, commercials, web shows, live performances, and narrative films. He strives to cultivate empathy and curiosity by making work that is personal and socially relevant. He hopes this will inspire people to learn more about themselves.
